happy halloween

 Spooky right? HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!! Couldn't resist a little Halloween throwback for ya. We found some of our favorite (aka most embarrassing) costumes from years past and decided it would be HI-larious to share them with you...ENJOY!

 Not sure if Elmo or my interpretation of Posh Spice is the winner. You know, I have to say Posh. Solely for the addition of the highest whitest socks I wore to really complete the ensemble.

Here you have three very different versions of me. You've got the sassiest Minnie (that won me and my cousin, who was Batman, the odd couple prize at a costume party), a confused pumpkin and the ultimate princess (floor length fur coat included).

monthly favorites || october

One more day until the weekend! YAAAAS QUEEN. On Monday we shared some of our music faves but let's be real, we've got a ton more things we loved during October! Like I said, monthly favorites were some of my favorite things to share on the blog, so we definitely wanted to continue it! Now, you'll just be getting double!

clancy's favorites

I know technically I can’t say that this is an October favorites because, well I’ve only had it for about a week, but I had to throw the Master Palette by Mario in here because I already know I love everything about it. The shadows are super pigmented and blend like a dream. Plus the colors in this .. hello could you need anything more? 10/10 would recommend.

If you know anything about me, you know how many Essie nail polishes I own; I’m the girl that brings her own color to the nail salon. I kept seeing Angora Cardi all over Pinterest as one of the most popular colors and thought the name looked familiar. Sure enough, I owned it and don’t think I’ve ever even tried it. I’ve repainted my nails this color at least three times this month. It’s the perfect fall color too, so I don’t see it going anywhere.

The amount of times Porter and I say to each other “I think I’m going to do a face mask tonight” but never actually do one is COMICAL. But when I do get around to using one, it’s almost always Kiehl’s Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Masque. I love how soft and clean my skins feels after using it. Not going to lie, it tingles a little when you put it on but I kinda like it, it’s almost like ‘hey I’m working!’

October rolls around and suddenly all I want is dark lips! I mean can you blame me? It’s about the only way us Floridians can signify that it’s finally fall. I’ve been wearing this combo lately, NYX Plum liner and Wet n Wild Cinnamon Spice, and can’t get enough. I get tons of compliments on it too! It’s bold but wearable …ya know? Also, it just goes to show, you can get the perfect lip color on a drugstore budget!

You’ve seen me in slip ons extremely similar to these in about 50% of my OOTDS. A couple of months ago, it was time I threw them out because I had just worn them down so bad, like I’m talking holes bad. I tried to live without them but that didn’t last long. I wanted a pair that were a little better quality, so I picked these Vans up from DSW. I haven’t stopped wearing them since.

It’s a good day when I buy something and then the next day Jessica Sturdy, who I consider my blogging soulmate, shows it on her snapchat! I picked this cardigan from Old Navy up to pair with one of my swing dresses and since then have paired it with just about everything else in my closet! Plus- it’s got pockets- major points.

I’m sure you’ve seen the new trailer for Gilmore Girls, I feel like the entire world is talking about it. To prep for it, I figured I should finally watch the last season. You see, I started re-watching the whole series about a year ago and for some reason stopped at season 7. I’m back on it and have officially started the countdown to November 25.

I can not stop eating Starburst. I’m not sure why I picked them up, maybe because the grocery store is just aisles of Halloween candy right now, but I’m not complaining. They’re just so dang good.

So I've never had a “true” eyeshadow palette because well, I could never find the perfect one. But the LORAC Mega Pro 3 was  GAME CHANGER! I was so excited to finally get my hands on one after Ulta had sold out a few times. Every matte and every shimmer shade is perfect. And there is not one color I wouldn't use. Although it was a bit pricey for me, a palette like this is an investment and I'll be using it practically every day.

Oh yes, I'm into this Pixi setting spray. I have really oily skin so when it comes to a setting spray I need something that's going to get the job done. Three or four sprays after you've done your makeup and you’re set! It also has a really light, refreshing smell that is quite lovely.

Ok, so I mentioned I have oily skin and this definitely includes my eyelids. One of the main reasons I've never really been an eyeshadow person is because after a few hours I'd always get that awkward crease and get annoyed. Clancy introduced me to the NYX eye primer and my life is changed! It works so well!! And now I can enjoy my Lorac palette even more.

You may have already seen these booties from TJMaxx make an appearance on the blog, and I can promise you will see them in future OOTDs because I am obsessed! I mean you can't really go wrong with a brown suede bootie with a tassel. These were a steal  for under $30 and I am amazed at how comfy they are.

It was under 70 degrees down here in Florida for about a minute and everyone took advantage of the cooler weather. My favorite thing was probably wearing my cozy, soft sweaters! These are from H&M and Old Navy and I love them. Both have made repeat appearances this past week and will be my go-to's for the season.

We've decided that any candle from Bath & Body Works that has “woods” in the name is a winner. Although Pumpkin Woods doesn't technically have pumpkin in the scent (weird, I know) it's sooooo good! Warm, fresh and a bit spicy. Perfect for fall.

Had to throw this guy into my favorites because it is hands down my favorite Halloween decoration. A flippin' sparkly Day of the Dead sugar skull? Yeah...I'm on board.

So that's it, those are just some things we've been loving this month! What were some of your favorites? We'd love to know!

on repeat || october

I’ve always loved writing my ‘monthly favorites’ posts, so this time around we wanted to put a fun little spin on them. You’ll get a post later this week with BOTH of our favorites, but today we’re bringing you specifically our music faves. Some of these we’ve discovered from our favorite shows, some from my brother (his taste in music is praise hands emoji) and others from discover weekly on Spotify.

Disclaimer; our taste in music can some times be out of control, but hey we like to keep it fun around here.

peasant blouse + olive shorts || porter

It's October, we should be breaking out the scarves and boots right? Umm...not so much for us Floridians. We'll be wearing flip flops to the pumpkin patch. Even though we don't get to watch the leaves change, let's try to look on the bright side shall we? Since it's still in the 80s down here, we're still enjoying our shorts and peasant tops.

 This top from Forever 21 was my absolute FAVE this summer. The tassels and embroidery detail give it that touch of "festival" style I love. And the flowy fabric makes the Florida humidity almost bearable.

 During autumn in the south, shorts are a must! I'm obsessed with anything olive right now (Clancy is too as you saw from her latest post) so when I saw these denim shorts I had to have them.

See...fall in Florida doesn't have to be all bad.

What We're Watching || Fall Edition

The best thing about fall is everything...but mostly the tv shows. Here's a list of our current fall faves:

Man oh man...what an emotional roller coaster! So I (Porter) have never watched a full season of The Voice, let alone made it past the blind auditions. But dear Lord I am sticking through to the end of this one! First of all...Blake and Adam are hilarious and flat out adorable. Second, can we just take a moment to applaud Miley in all of her quirkiness? We're actually really into it. And Alicia...what a goddess. But seriously this show gives us all the feelings. And the contestants this year are OUT OF THIS WORLD good! We are so excited that the battle rounds have finally started, it's gonna be intense!

The ULTIMATE fall show. I (Clancy) can't be the only person coming back every season hoping it's as good as the first two. And I (Porter) am literally terrified the entire hour we watch. So, you're never really supposed to know what's going on...but right now we're just looking forward to the Wednesday we actually understand the theme of this season. Also, Evan Peters...glad to see you again.

They've only aired 3 episodes and we're already stressed out. But like, a good kind of stressed out if that makes any sense. Last season was the first we watched week to week and it was honestly kind of difficult. Mainly because they leave you with the WORST cliffhangers! I mean, props to the writers for keeping us hooked. There's a lot going on all the time in this show. They're always crossing people off the blacklist and catching criminals. And at the same time dealing with the crazy messed up relationships between the characters: Reddington and Liz...????

Frank! Where'd you and your beard go??? ...that's all we have to say about this one.

It's true you're always taking a risk watching a brand new show because's new and you don't really know what you're getting yourself into. You've probably seen the promos for this all over just like we did. But we had to give it a try because...hello? Jess from Gilmore Girls is in it. So far, dang, it'll get ya right in the feels. It's about real stuff: family struggles, career crisis, weight insecurities, marital problems, you name it. There's a fun little twist at the end of the first episode that really makes this show unique and we're really looking forward to seeing how everything unfolds.

So, we don't exactly watch this show week to week...for us it's better for binge-watching. 30 minutes just isn't enough Nick and Schmidt time you know? Anyway we had to throw New Girl in our must watch fall shows because it's one of our faves! Truth be told we spent an entire day finishing season 5 (thanks Hurricane Matthew and our power holding out). New Girl is just one of those feel good shows that you can watch 1000 times and still laugh, cry and swoon over Nick Miller.

*Disclaimer: the likelihood of us watching these shows at the time they air is slim to none. Thank God for On Demand.

olive vest || clancy

Hi all!! Happy Monday. I’m happy to report that we made it through Hurricane Matthew alive, even if that 30 hour curfew drove us a little crazy. I mean, we used our time wisely aka caught up on season 5 of New Girl. #NickMillerdateme?

This is the ultimate Clance OOTD. Chambray top, check. Black ponte leggings, check. Green vest, double check. I can’t stop wearing the heck out of this vest, it’s almost a problem. It’s not my fault that it pairs well with absolutely everything- dresses, sweaters, tees. You name it, it works!

Plus it’s perfect for this time of year in FL. The color is fall enough to be season appropriate, but lightweight enough to be weather appropriate. If you live somewhere that fall doesn’t really exist, you know what I’m talking about.

Where we've been || q+a

So, as you’ve seen from Monday’s post, WE’RE BACK!! We thought it would only be right to answer a couple of the questions we’ve been hearing from our friends and family regarding what’s been going on! Also- we hope if you’re reading this from the Sunshine State, you already hit up Publix for the necessities, you know… water, wine, Goldfish before the madness of Hurricane Matthew set in.

Why’d you stop blogging?
Man- life just got crazy! Both of us work at jobs that get pretty hectic around the holidays, and it just became a lot. We were still new to living on our own, and sometimes adulting gets the best of you. One thing led to another and next thing you know it’s October and we haven’t posted in 8 months. WDA has always been a fun place for us and we just felt like we couldn’t give it the time it deserved.

What have you been doing?
Well, we’ve got eight months to recap in a few sentences so here goes. Porter’s been to Africa and has a new niece! Clancy’s brother started college so she’s feeling OLD. We’ve watched a lot of netflix, taken a few mini trips and had our lives changed at a James Bay concert. Honestly, nothing major but ALL THE THINGS have happened. Every couple of weeks we would turn to each other and say “we should be blogging this” so… here we are!

When are you going to start WDA up again?
RIGHT NOW! No, but really. We’ve decided that now's a good time to start giving this blog some lovin’ again. I know, the holidays are right around the corner so you might be asking is this really the time? YES MA'AM it is! We know blogging is time consuming but I think our time management skills have improved enough for us to balance.

What can we expect from you guys?
Honestly- these past eight months haven’t changed us all that much. We still love a good OOTD, a new mascara and trying a new recipe every once in a while. We’ve also added home decor and monthly playlists to our resumes. Now that we live together and blogging is a little more casual, expect more collab posts from us. We’re shooting for two posts a week, but go easy on us!

We’re excited to get back into it and hope you guys are too! See you Monday!!
