November Faves!

Man, Mondays are rough. But Mondays after holiday weekends … no thank ya. Hope yours was spent eating too much turkey and spending time with family on Thanksgiving and shopping on Black Friday! Oh, HAPPY CYBER MONDAY. If you’re wondering what our favorite deals are, Porter’s got you covered. Anyway, I wish I could tell you my weekend was spent doing those things, but just kidding I was working because you know …#retail.

I can’t believe today I’m sharing my November favorites with you guys! I really feel like this month flew by. Honestly, this entire year flew by. I don’t have tons of favorites this month because work is super busy plus I’m getting ready to move!! But, here’s what I got for you. HAPPY DECEMBER.

TV/MUSIC

I don’t even think I need to tell you how amazing the new Adele album is. Seriously if you haven’t purchased it yet, what are you doing? I know I know, it’s annoying it’s not available on Spotify- but it’s worth the $14. Send My Love and Water Under the Bridge are my jams but everything on there is golden.

How To Get Away With Murder finale was this month. Actually, I think it was just the mid season finale because it’s back in February but OMG can it come back now please?! So many more questions I need answered.

Vanderpump Rules is definitely my guilty pleasure. I am so happy it’s back in my life. It’s definitely an hour of ridiculous drama but I LURVE it. I can’t wait to see Tom and Katie’s proposal SPOILERZ and what happens with Stassi.

BEAUTY

I bought this NARS velvet lip pencil during the VIB sale and I really wish I picked up some more. Aside from being in love with the color, the formula is amazing. It’s more long wearing than I thought it would be but it also wears off nicely. Some lipsticks start to crack or get patchy after a while and I don’t feel like this one does. It's also super comfortable on your lips, velvet is definitely a good way to describe it!

Obsessed with Champagne Pop- so many praise hands emoji for this highlighter. I don’t know what it is about this color, its a little golden, a little pink and a little champagne all at the same time. It pairs so nice with any makeup look. 10/10 would recommend.

I have been reaching for my Tarte palette a ton this month. Like I said, it’s been crazy so I haven’t really been experimenting with my makeup. These shades are the perfect go to look when I don’t have time but still want to look put together.  They just came out with a second one and I miiiiiight need to get my hands on that baby.

FASHION

I can’t get enough of stripes. Seriously I have purchased 4 striped tops this month and I am not at all sorry about it. I love wearing them on their own or pairing them with other patterns

OTHER

Like I said, we’re getting ready to move in so this month I found myself at Home Goods probably more than I should have. I haven’t bought a ton of stuff because I haven’t yet decided what I want to do for my room and want to wait to get settled with the big stuff. But I have picked up some things here and there. I’m obsessed with these bathroom accessories. Is that what you call them? No idea but they’re super cute.

What have you been loving this month?!

Say "Yes" to the Desk

Well happy Monday everyone! Hope you all have done your Thanksgiving shopping and are getting prepped for the big feast this week! Personally I am SO excited and will definitely have a "no ra-grets" mindset for the holiday.

And during all this holiday hustle and bustle I am currently in the process of moving. Woohoo! I'm so excited to decorate, have my own space and a super cool roommate, buuuuut not so excited about the big purchases like new furniture.

Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware inspiration. Overstock.com and ikea prices for lovely dressers, nightstands and desks. Home decor.

I've been blessed with some quality hand-me-downs in life so far, but there comes a time when you just really want to create a space for yourself from scratch. That's where I'm at now. However, did you know that furniture (all furniture) is HELLA expensive??? Dear Lord, shopping got overwhelming real quick. But no matter...I've been "ballin' on a budget" for quite some time so I'm pretty good at finding a good deal. And with Black Friday right around the corner the online deals have already started, hallelujah!

So what I have for you today is a little bargain shopper post for those of you trying to find quality furniture but who still want to afford food and gas. It's all about the research people. What works best for me is to window shop at high-end stores to get inspiration then go online at discount places and find a good copy-cat piece! You get the look you want for the price you can afford.

My first task: finding a dresser.

These beauts are from Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware. Their pieces are so beautiful but unfortunately way out of my budget.

Now these two are from Overstock.com (a recent obsession of mine) and they are equally are gorgeous in my opinion! And like a quarter of the price! #addtocart

And you know you can always rely on Ikea for a solid, minimal dresser. This one was a definite contender.

Next up: a cute little nightstand.

Again Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware are so on point with their style. Love love love. But sadly, ya girl cannot spring for a nightstand in the $400-$900 range.

Overstock ya done it again. I had so much trouble deciding which of these three I liked best. Did I want the classic white or add a little interest and texture with the wood finish? And you guessed in these three are all from $100-$200.

And this one from Ikea is only $100 too!

Finally...a desk. This one was possibly the toughest. I wanted something minimal but super functional.

I actually found two from Pottery Barn that I thought were great inspiration!

And these three from Overstock.com are absolutely amazing! I mean come on, you can't tell me that this middle one isn't the twin to my second Pottery Barn pick.

And if you're going minimal, Ikea is your place!

I feel so relieved that I have so many options with the look I want without breaking the bank. I'll have to let you all see the final product when my room is finally finished! Ahhh! I can't wait!!!

Sephora VIB Haul!

I’m not quite sure why it hadn't happened yet, but I just became a Sephora VIB earlier this month. My wallet finds that hard to believe considering all you have to do is spend $350 in a calendar year and I definitely feel like I did that long ago. Anyway, great timing considering the VIB sale was this past weekend! You know your girl took full advantage.

I didn’t really need any new makeup, nothing really has been catching my eye lately. Uhhh actually can’t wait to see the new Urban Decay Gwen Stefani palette but I’ll wait. But other than that I didn’t really have anything on my list. Although Porter will tell you otherwise because we walked around for what felt like hours so I didn’t forget anything.

I knew I wanted to pick up some of my holy grail products. Things I was going to have to repurchase anyway, so why not get the 20% off?! I grabbed a new Brow Wiz, Better Than Sex and Eyeshadow base. Disclaimer: I wasn’t a huge fan of Better Than Sex but it has definitely won me over. I’ve been non stop hearing about how great the Laura Mercier setting powder is, so that went in my bag. I’ve had my eye on Nars Train Bleu and Becca’s Champagne Pop for a while now, so ….in they went too!

Since I didn’t pick up a ton of makeup (… or did I because I feel like I might have?) I also wanted to check out some new skincare. I have a couple products from boscia that I’m a fan of so I picked up a mask I love and an exfoliating peel gel because well.. doesn’t that sound fun? I was also in the market for a new moisturizer and 2 different girls recommended one from belief and if two people like it, it must be good right? Grabbed some new brush heads for my clarisonic, I’ve been obsessed with mine lately.

Obviously I couldn't wait in line without picking up something! I swear Sephora could make enough money to operate on their revenue from what they have in that little area. Does anyone just stand there and not add at least one thing to their purchase? One day I'll have enough self control! Anyway, I picked up a small bottle of the primer water from Smashbox, so stay tuned to see if I'm a fan! Oh, I also grabbed a roller ball of the most amazing scent. It took me a while to pick out one- I went home with three other samples because I was very indecisive. Nest Midnight Fleur. You're welcome.

I know this may sound like a lot but it’s hard to pass up 20% off! Especially on brands that are never on sale and are on the more expensive side. I meaaaaaan, I have no regrets.  Did you take advantage of the sale?! If you did, you know I want to hear what you got! Even though I'm not allowed in Sephora for some time.

Having some fun in flowy florals

Floral dress, black booties, red lip. Fall fashion. ASOS, Loft, DSW.

Happy Wednesday everyone! There have been so many things going on in my life recently that I feel like I'm being pulled in 800 different directions. Don't get me wrong it's all good things! Getting prepped to move, crazy busy at work, blog blog blog, and one of my dear friend's wedding is this Saturday! I'm so pumped to celebrate with the happy couple it's gonna be a blast!

Being me (I'm a bit of a procrastinator) I forgot how much prep there is if you're IN the wedding party. In addition to showers, bachelorette parties, getting dresses altered and gift registries, I needed to find some time to get a rehearsal dinner outfit.

I was actually pretty on top of this little task because I had a few dresses in my shopping cart at ASOS that would definitely do the trick. I ended up ordering two, both very different styles because I wasn't sure what I wanted (the struggle).

This one was FOR SURE the winner. First, I fell in love with the pattern. The roses with the geometric triangles are just so interesting and feminine. It's not too much of a pattern that I'll feel out of my comfort zone but I still feel like I'm trying something new! And bonus, it's so comfortable! It's a really lightweight chiffon material, perfect for November in Florida. And obviously a flowy shift dress is pretty much a crowd favorite on WDA. I paired it with this marble pendant necklace (shoutout to Clancy for picking up one for me when she bought hers), sparkly bracelet and black suede booties. Classy, fun and perfect for celebrating at my friend's rehearsal dinner!

Hey what's up hello FALL WEATHER.

I’m not on board with Florida weather 89% of the time. But right now? This weather I could get behind. It’s the perfect weather for light layers. You can definitely get away with long sleeves and a scarf as long as you keep them both lightweight. So.. guess what I’ve been doing. Yup, just that. You’ve got a fall loving gal over here and that’s not going to change.

I fell in love with black and white gingham earlier this year. It’s a neutral enough pattern that I don’t feel overwhelmed or have a hard time pairing it. But it’s still bold enough to make a statement.

Also, are you surprised to see me in color? Me too… it’s not something I normally wear. However, I’ve been really loving a small pop of color added to an otherwise neutral outfit. I usually gravitate toward something jewel tone but this mustard was just calling my name.

shop this look:

Here's to a quick week because I'm ready to be outside enjoying this weather again!
