Drugstore Beauty Gems

As much as I love my MAC lipsticks and my Lorac and Tarte eyeshadow palettes, I can’t always justify spending $20+ on a single beauty item. For (almost) everything high end, a comprable alternative can be found in your local drugstores. I say (almost) because there are just some things worth spending a little extra money on!

While I don’t have a favorite product in every category at the drug store, I have a few favorites that I have repurchased again and again and are definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for something new for your makeup collection!

NYC Bronzer in Sunny//Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso//Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder//Maybelline Instant Age Rewind in Brightener

The NYC sunny bronzer is the perfect matte shade to either warm up your face or do a little contour with. It’s hard to find a bronzer at the drugstore without shimmer but this one definitely does the job. If there’s one raved about blush it’s got to be Milani’s Luminoso. It adds the perfect glow to your skin without being too much. When I use this, I skip out on highlighter completely. Maybelline Instant Age rewind is awesome if you have under eye circles that you want to cover up. I definitely recommend the Brightener shade, it has a salmon undertone that works amazing! My favorite setting powder is Rimmel Stay Matte, it is a super fine powder so it doesn’t look cakey, it helps with shine but still looks natural.

ELF Eyebrow Kit..Jordana Fabuliner//Wet and Wild Single Eyeshadow in Creme Brûlée//Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded

Don’t get me wrong I definitely have a wide variety of brow products that I reach for depending on what look I’m going for, however ELF has an amazing eye brow kit for $3, I mean you can’t go wrong with that! It has both a wax and powder side so you’ve got the best of both worlds. I love a good winged eye liner and the drugstore definitely has several to choose from. I enjoy the Jordana Fabuliner, it’s a felt tip liner so it’s pretty easy to use and is very black. If you’re looking for a good eye shadow base Maybelline color tattoos are awesome and they have a bunch of colors to chose from. I love Barely Branded for a neutral look. Wet and Wild has some seriously awesome eyeshadows. You’d never guess because of how inexpensive they are that they would compare to some of my favorite high end shadows. The single in creme brûlée is nice as an all over lid color and transition shade. I also love a lot of drugstore mascaras, but I find these to be a very personal choice, but definitely worth checking out!

Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya & Berry Smoothie//Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Sangria & Nude Cream//Rimmel Kate Moss in 104

Milani Color Statement Lipliner in Nude//Rimmel Exaggerate Lipliner in Natural & Eastend Snob//Jordana Easyliner in Rock n Rose & Tawny

I think out of any products, you can find the most selection with lipsticks and lip liners. Drugstores have definitely stepped up their game with the variety that they offer. There's some great matte lipsticks, glosses that are almost exactly like higher end brands and colors that are pretty much exactly the same as ones that cost more than double. Some of my favorite lines are the Miliani Color statement Lipsticks, and the Revlon Lip butters. I also enjoy the Rimmel Exaggerate Lipliners and the Jordana easyliners. Since lipsticks can be a trial and error until you find a shade that works for you, it’s definitely smart to go the drugstore route! I also love turning to the drugstore for trendier colors that you just want to experiment with and don't want to shell out the money incase you end up not liking it!

Sally Hansen Xtreme wear in Pacific Blue

Most of my polishes are Essie; I love their formula and colors, and while they are available at the drugstore, they are a little pricey. You can find similar colors in less expensive brands. However there is one polish that is my absolute favorite can be found at the drugstore for about $4. Pacific blue is a color that I ALWAYS get compliments on and it wears very well! Definitely recommend checking this baby out!!

Real Techniques

Brushes can be super expensive. Like sometimes I don’t understand how a tiny brush can cost over $20. I mean, it makes sense they last long and it’s true if you invest in good brushes they can change the whole look of your makeup. I have some more expensive ones, but I also love my Real Techniques as well. I have several of their face and eye brushes and love their makeup sponge (beauty blender dupe). You can find these at Ulta and Target but I have also heard Kohls and Walmart carry them as well.

Dove Dry Shampoo//L’OREAL Total Repair 5

I’ve talked about this L’OREAL total repair deep conditioner in my hair care post, and I’m 100% serious when I say I don’t know what I would do without it. Whenever I’m traveling and don’t have it, my hair hates me. Definitely better than some more expensive conditioners I’ve tried. This dry shampoo from Dove is also great! The smell is amazing and it doesn’t leave my scalp itchy or feeling gross.

These are just a few drugstore gems that I’ve loved and use daily in my routine. There are definitely more out there! Remember, you don’t always need to be spending a ton of money on high end products- just hop over to your local drugstore and you might be pleasantly surprised and what you’ll find! The drugstore is a great place to pick things up you just want to try out or things you feel like you use up too quickly to go the more expensive route on.

Hope you enjoyed today's post!
