Chocolate Bark, a true crowd pleaser.


Happy Tuesday! Welcome to what’s about to be the easiest Taste it Tuesday you will ever come across. You see, the other two lovely ladies who run this blog with me are fabulous at just about everything they do, including any cooking/baking they attempt. Me …not so much. But I’m here today with a great party side dish that I promise will be a fan favorite!

With all the holiday parties, work potlucks, friends and family get togethers you’re bound to find yourself in a situation where bringing a dish is necessary. Like I said, I’m not one that can bring Porter’s really awesome pie or super delicious appetizer like Brit’s bruschetta, but I also don’t want to be that girl that goes to Publix and buys something pre made
HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE BARK TO THE RESCUE!



This is super easy and only needs a few ingredients, I made three different kinds, but feel free to tailor it to your liking!



Holiday Bark

What you’ll need:
- white chocolate / milk chocolate / dark chocolate morsels 
- candy canes
- pretzles
- oreos
- peppermint oil
green food coloring


First up: Mint Oreo Bark












Melt your white chocolate morsels in a double boiler, (look at me using that lingo!) …a microwave works just fine too!












Mix in your peppermint oil, I used a 1/2 tablespoon, feel free to use more or less depending on how minty you like it.









I then mixed in about 5 drops of food coloring, this step is obviously optional but definitely makes it look pretty! You can also change the color if your party has a theme! Or make half green / half red. Supppper festive!







Mix your crushed Oreos in, there’s probably 9 cookies in mine, again alter it to your taste!







Spread on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. I also chose to sprinkle a couple more Oreos on the top as well! The more the merrier, don’t they say?

Place in the freezer for at least three hours. You want to make sure this sets before trying to break it apart. 









Next: Pretzels and Peppermint








First, melt your dark/milk chocolate in your double boiler and spread on parchment paper. I would recommend letting this set for a couple minutes before moving on to the next step. (I didn’t and wish I would have, trial and error people!)






Melt white chocolate and separate into three bowls

For this batch, I chose to add in pretzels in one bowl, candy canes in one, and then both in the third bowl.








Spread your white chocolate mixture on top of your first layer. I also sprinkled extra 
peppermint and pretzels on the top. This just adds a little more crunch and texture to the bark.


Place in the freezer and let it set!








Once they have set, take them out and break them up with a butter knife.





Just like that, such an easy dish to bring to a party and nobody even realizes how easy it was! By separating the second one into three bowls, I made three different varieties, who doesn’t like choices! Feel free to add whatever kind of toppings tickle your fancy! Makes it look like you are Betty Crocker herself!! Put them in cute little containers or mason jars. You can even put a serving in a cellophane bag and gift it, great for teachers or coworkers! I promise it will be one snack people can’t stop going back for more.
